Low Carb Keto Diet On A Budget
If you have decided to switch to a low carb diet, you must learn some basics first. The first thing you should know is: you will be eating food closest to its most basic form. That means unprocessed or lightly processed food, the form of which resembles its pure form – green vegetables, eggs in the shelf, meat, fresh cream.
-
Choose Ground Beef as a protein source!
This sort of meat is rich in protein, tastes yummy and has 0 carbs! There are all sorts of recipes that you can try out – meatloaf, cabbage rolls, butter burgers, and many many others!
-
Use Cabbage!
Cabbage is a veggie that can be consumed both raw and processed. You can serve it raw in coleslaw or cooked with meat, or even just salt and butter.
-
Eggs!
Eggs are also reached in protein and also very affordable for all keto lovers. The good thing is, you can serve them for breakfast, lunch, dinner, depending on the type of egg dish. You can go with boiled eggs for breakfast, omelet for lunch or you can even add eggs to other dishes, for example, salads, and make it a great, light, but rich in protein dinner.
- Make a shopping list and freeze!
Buy meat in bulk when on sale, and then store it in your refrigerator. It can last up to 6 months, sometimes even more. It’s even better if you know someone who grows their own beef or poultry. Freeze it until the next years meat is ready. It’s also a plus when you’re not sure what to make for lunch and then you remember you have a refrigerator full of meat. Just add some low carb veggies.
Speaking of freezing, you can store butter, veggies and berries for 6 months!

Plan your meals for the whole week if possible or for the days when you know you won’t be able to make anything. Use leftovers. Have something ready so you don’t have to buy food and eat on the run.

Buy veggies and berries when they are in season. Not only will they taste better, but they will also be a lot cheaper. And remember to freeze for later!
